Mixed Media
Last fall, I was feeling very uninspired and I decided to try a new medium.
I loved the texture that could be accomplished with oil pastels and the vibrancy of acrylic paint and gouache on paper. The first three paintings below are a mixture of acrylic and oil pastel, gouache and oil pastel, or all three!
The waterfall piece was the first one that I created to loosen up and not take myself so seriously. It was messy and I was learning as I went, and I LOVED every second of it. I never planned to sell it, so the stakes were incredibly low, haha.
The two outer pieces came later as I tried to figure out how I wanted to practice landscapes and incorporate a house plant. Enjoy the results of me taking a break from being a “serious” artist and just having fun!
The figure that is depicted below is one of my favorites too. I made that a couple of years ago while most of the world was still heavily isolated in their homes. I was working through some issues that I’d had for most of my life and I decided that I wanted to create something that depicted the beauty of soft bodies. I used charcoal on watercolor paper.
